So my predicament is that I recently moved into the countryside on my farm, I have no internet connection out there save for my phone which has only 7GB of hotspot. I do however have internet at my old house and have been using it to download huge files such as all my games. It is quite an ordeal though as transporting the case is a problem in my small car. With that bit of background about my situation out of the way.
MY QUESTION IS, is it possible to transfer the games files from my laptops SSD to my desktop by moving the SSD into my Desktop and then add the games registry addresses into my desktops registry? Both machines are Windows 8.1.
I believe that if I can view the registry files of my laptops registry on the SSD through my desktop's file system. I should be able to copy over the registry addresses and then my desktop could find and play the games, right? It makes perfect sense in my head at least. Since when a program is installed through an installation wizard, it places the files in the drive you chose and then installs the registry addresses so the computer will know where to look for them. Correct me if I'm wrong and then please enlighten me.
Has anyone tackled this before? Anyone able to pull it off? As long as I have both computers with origin, my account and the record of my purchases on both machines. I think I shouldn't run into any game security implications. Still makes legal and possible sense right?
Thanks by the way for reading this if you actually made it through all that.
Your helpful / subject related comments and suggestions are very welcome plus appreciated!
Trying to purchase the new humble bundle but I cant download origin. I keep getting an ssl error with chrome. I've tried using other browsers but I still.
Don’t have Origin on your computer? Read our guide on how to download, install, and update it.
When you buy a digital version of a game or downloadable content (DLC) for a game through Origin — either from the Store tab in the client or on origin.com — it's automatically added to My Game Library.
You can also add games you buy outside of Origin, including physical games. Click on Redeem Product Code… from the Origin menu and type in your codes there.
If you need help redeeming your codes, read our article on how to do that.

Why did I get an error that too many computers have accessed my game recently?
If you get the message that says, 'Too many computers have accessed this account’s version of [game name] recently. Please try again later,' it's because you can only install your game on up to five computers per 24-hour period, as mentioned in our Terms of Service.
Using a different computer, changing the hardware in your current computer, or using a virtual machine to play can all count as a new computer. It can take up to 24 hours for you to be able to relaunch the game.
If you're getting the error after 24 hours, let us know so we can help.
You can set the maximum download rate for games and choose if you want them to download while you’re playing other ones.
Here’s how:
- Open the Origin client.
- Click Origin in the top menu bar.
- Choose Application Settings.
How it works from there:
- Under Download Restrictions, you’ll see dropdowns for your maximum download rate when out of game and during gameplay. You can choose from a range of speeds, up to No limit.
- While you’re in game, you can choose Don’t download so that nothing downloads while you’re gaming.
- Want your games to stay up to date on their own? Scroll down in the Application Settings to Client update. Make sure the toggle for Automatic game updates is switched on.
How To Download Game From Origin Onto Computer Screen
Some of our games let you store your saves in the cloud. When you turn on cloud storage, it will store your data on our secure EA servers instead of taking up space on your hard drive. That means that you can also access those saved games from other computers if you’re signed in to your account.
Cloud storage is on by default. Want to change that? You can do so in your settings:
- Open the Origin client.
- Click Origin in the top menu bar.
- Choose Application Settings.
- Select the Installs & Saves tab.
- Under Cloud Storage, make sure Saves is set to On — or Off — depending on your preference.
Origin can store 100MB of save data per game.
You can find out if your games support cloud saving in the game’s Properties:
- Launch the Origin client.
- Click on My Game Library.
- Right-click the game you want to check and click Game Properties.
If it’s available, you’ll see a Cloud Storage tab next to the General tab. Don’t see a tab? Then the game doesn’t have cloud storage.
Cloud saves are platform-specific. If you save your game on PC, you can only access your cloud saves from another PC. Same goes for Mac.
