Pros/Cons of downloading 3DS games from the eShop?

New to 3DS, so please forgive me! Just bought a 3DS XL on a whim!

I've been looking at Fire Emblem Awakening & noticed it's on sale this week, virtual copy. Is there any downside, other than not having the cartridge physically, to buying the game & having a 'virtual' copy only? Any pros that would actually make it BETTER?
